  1. hi,

I install the plugin but i didnt see nothing, i have created a couple of child pages… must i add some code on my header page?

i dont understand the install instructions….

  2. Of course you have to add code like the one written in the “usage” part.
The code can be added in your header, sidebar, theme or plug-in.

  3. Excuse me if a bother you, I have your plugin working but the index.php cant handle the menu, it dissapears.

As you said me is about ‘current’ => 0, param in the array, but I cant achieve the ID,

  4. Frenadoll:
you have to set the id to a page id, page ids are shown in “Manage” -> “Pages” table

  5. Mike, copy the code from usage and put in your theme, for example into header.php then show a page in your blog.

It works also with non pages, but you have to set ‘current’ to a page id.

  6. Andrea,
I’ve been trying to use your plug-in ona a blog I’m designing, but I can’t get it to work as I want.

I get a bullet list with the pages and sub pages like this:
    – page 1
    + subpage 1
    -page 2

What do I do to get something that looks like your examples on your website, with drop down menus?

    Greatfull for any hints!

    Olov A.

  7. olov: My name is Marco (the author of the plug-in and this page), Andrea is the blog’s owner, we are two different people.

answer to your question is: CSS!
search with Google: css vertical drop-down menu

there is a way to have results like screenshots even without javascript.

    Have fun!

  8. Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to actually include links to categories as well using the plugin? 🙂 Thanks!

  9. Mosey soon I will release 0.3.0 beta or final that is just working as you asked!

    Stay tuned! 🙂

  10. When I add the code into my sidebar I receive the error:

[Something is wrong in your syntax obok 'ASC' w linii 1]
SELECT * FROM wp_posts WHERE (post_type = 'page' AND post_status = 'publish') ORDER BY ASC

Fatal error: Cannot break/continue 1 level in /home/advhost/domains/ on line 336

    What’s wrong?

  11. Fafek it’s a bug I think I will investigate and post a new beta very soon, thanx for the report.

  12. Fafek beta3 is out, easy fix 🙂
Anyway you have specified a depth parameter too low, try to add 1 to it 😉

  13. Hi,

The plugin looks great and could work for me, if I’d getit to work. Its totaly unclear for me where to put in which code.

I activated the plugin as said in the installation, and then when I read the usage I see a lot of code. When I insert this in the header.php for instance I get nothing.

Could you be more precise in inserting which code where, exactly.

Also I have to say that its unfortunate that you didn’t include a working example of a CSS.

But for the rest: keep up the good work!

  14. Great tool!

I’m using it to present my Pages navigation vertically in a sidebar, with multiple nested lists for each level. However, I’ve run into a problem/limitation. Is there a way to supress the id=”current” for a parent list (li) tag, when there is a child list item (also a li tag) that is also id=”current”?

My css is using the #current to trigger a “you are here” color differentiation, but because there are two list items with id=”current”, the CSS rule is triggered on both list items with this same id, making it confusing to know what page you are on since two are now highlighted in the navigation. (Besides, I believe it is invalid HTML to have two of the same elements with the same ID value on the same page).

    Thanks for your help!

  15. Amitabh yes it’s a bug and yes “id” should be unique but I don’t check for that.
Should be fixed in rc1 coming next week.

    Thanx for posting!

  16. Awesome, thanks for updating me on the bug, I look forward to the new release. Keep up the great work, and if you have a paypal “tip jar”, let me know!

  17. When I add the code into my sidebar I receive the error:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ASC’ at line 1]
SELECT * FROM wp_posts WHERE (post_type = ‘page’ AND post_status = ‘publish’) ORDER BY ASC

Cimy Page Navigator: ‘depth’ parameter is too low, nothing to show

    whats wrong?

  18. Hi Marco,
After some difficulties I finally got your wonderful stuff running.
However, using it for the pages, it disappears when I go to a categorie.
Is this a bug or am I not smart enough to find the solution?
    Thank you,

  19. Hi again Marco,
Please forget about my question, I finally understood the instructions.
May you live long, not having to answer to the same questions all the time 😉

  20. Yes Chris I have said different times but probably words are not so clear, if you have a better way to say tell me and I can change it 😉

Hope you will enjoy my plugin 🙂

  21. i still havent figured out how to use the plugin..maybe u cud give an eg with the code-in-use in a headr.php file or something…. tht will help…..

  22. NGeN: there is just the example, just copy it in your header.php if you have problem read known bugs/behaviours, if still problems, re-read all the page, if still then ask again.

  23. Thanks for this plugin.
When I paste the code in my header.php, nothing happens… I tryed with but anyway.
As you can see i’m a noob with php. Can you help me ?

  24. Raphaël your question is already asked a lot of times, please read readme file and comments and you will find the solutions.

  25. have you tried starting from the example? Consider that all colors and formatting can be done with css after.

  26. marco,
it would be great if for the next version the plug in incoprorates sample css styles for dropdown and other types of menus.

Or maybe the only thing necessary is to link some code samples for
    listamatic type
unordered lists…which is just one of the many repositories on the web for styling menus.

Or maybe the best thing in my opinion is to find a way for users of the plugin to contribute with their own examples. The blog could open up a page where the plugin users could suggest different plugin configurations and link to their website for demo views.

    what do you think?

  27. Oh, yes and I also think that the known bug/behavior that requires the current page to be set is not only a behavior, it can be part of the initial description…

“If you have your custom css with this plug-in you can create also interactive menu or very useful site maps, see screenshots.
Furthermore the ‘current’ option allows to specify in the “current” parameter a valid page_id so as to show not only in the pages but also in the posts”

  28. bluEyez:
I’m sorry this is not a cimy navigator bug, it’s by design.
I’ve just provided to you a solution, for a specific solution (exact code) we don’t work for free as we sell our services.
Contact us for more details if you are interested

  29. I just think it would be nice if your actual example code worked. I, like many of the others I’ve read about here, have tried it six ways to Sunday and can’t get it to work.

  30. BB:
many people here if you read well understood how to make it works and also many comments are related to the old versions.

    I repeat:
I don’t like people that don’t know how to use a thing and conclude in saying “it doesn’t work” this is not a real cause->effect.

Example works here with WordPress 2.3 probably (like many others) haven’t read that you have to change a parameter and not only copy and paste the code, but it’s written tons and tons of times.

The plug-in is in use also on this site to make navigation through pages and this is WordPress 2.3 so an example that it simply works.

  31. Andrea:
Now I wrote in the documentation another time that you must enter a valid page_id and category_id, the real problem is people just don’t read documentation at all, they copy and paste and conclude it doesn’t work 🙁

I asked here also to a person that previously didn’t understand how to make it works and then yes how to explain better, but no response.
So I can conclude that people don’t read documentation and don’t want to make it better so I don’t really know how to do more than this.

  32. for people who can’t figure out how to put this into your template, what i did:

    1) putting this into my sidebar, i pasted the code the author provided in the “documentation” page

    2) i then realized that you need to surround that code with beginning and ending php tags

    3) if you copied and pasted from the documentation page… pasting into notepad++, i realized all the quotes were “smart” quotes. couldn’t figure out why the code wasn’t working. on a hunch i replaced all the smart quotes with regular quotes, and wham, it worked. so try that as well.

  33. unrulyasides:

thanx for providing these steps, thought were very easy to understand (they are common issues), but probably someone need the base to start 🙂

  34. Is this plugin working with wp v2.5.x?

I have some experience with PHP, but I haven’t been able to get it working, i replaced the smart tags, and tried defining “current” manually but it just doesn’t work.

Could this be because I using WP 2.5.1 ?

  35. Anabelle:
99% of the time are users that aren’t able to make it works, not a plugin fault.

But honestly I still have to test it under WP 2.5.x will do soon.

  36. Installed Image Rotator…great…simple and I’m still making changes to the site. One problem, that I cannot solve, is moving the nav bar down below the header image box (15px below the box so they are not touching)

If you want I’ll send you Wp name and password.

    Ideas??? Please!

  37. Claude Michaud:
you are commenting on Cimy Navigator plug-in about Cimy Header Image Rotator, can you please use proper place?

Also read FAQ on how to report bug/problems and explain a bit better what is your issue.
