Q: How can I use this plug-in with Twenty Ten/Eleven theme?
A: The best idea is to create a child theme indeed, someone already tried it: http://blog.duncanmoran.net/archives/1436
Q: How can I set the order of the pictures?
A: First rename the pictures like this: 01-pic, 02-pic, 03-pic and finally upload them.
Q: Why when I refresh the page then the rotation does not start from first picture even if shuffle images is turned off?
A: Because the plug-in calculates a time frame where every picture should be positioned based on the swap rate and the total amount of uploaded pictures and then this time frame is assigned to this picture in this moment.
Q: Images never load, “Loading images…” stays always there, what happened?
A1: Did you install recently a plug-in? If yes try to isolate it, most probably it is its fault due to wrong inclusion of jQuery script. Its author should fix this referring to WordPress documentation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script
A2: If did not help then probably you have selected Slide effect and you did not read that your images should be bigger than the div so: reduce the div dimensions and/or reduce the speed of this effect.
A3: If still did not help then probably you loaded too big images (the file size) and takes too long to load all of them.
Q: When feature XYZ will be added?
A: I don’t know, remember that this is a 100% free project so answer is “When I have time and/or when someone help me with a donation”.
Q: Can I help with a donation?
A: Sure, visit the donation page or contact me via e-mail.
Q: Can I hack this plug-in and hope to see my code in the next release?
A: For sure, this is just happened and can happen again if you write useful new features and good code. Try to see how I maintain the code and try to do the same (or even better of course), I have rules on how I write it, don’t want “spaghetti code”, I’m Italian and I want spaghetti only on my plate.
There is no guarantee that your patch will hit an official upcoming release of the plug-in, but feel free to do a fork of this project and distribute it, this is GPL!
Q1: I have found a bug what can I do?
Q2: Something does not work as expected, why?
A: The first thing is to download the latest version of the plug-in and see if you still have the same issue.
If yes please write me an email or write a comment but give as more details as you can, like:
- Plug-in version
- WordPress version
- MYSQL version
- PHP version
- exact error that is returned (if any)
after describe what you did, what you expected and what instead the plug-in did ![]()
Then the MOST important thing is: DO NOT DISAPPEAR!
A lot of times I cannot reproduce the problem and I need more details, so if you don’t check my answer then 80% of the times bug (if any) will NOT BE FIXED!

Marco, where are you on the fading and “jumping” issue? thanks.
i want to rotate set of 3 images simulataneously, then next and then next. how to do.
Pawan:
Is not possible unfortunately.
Workaround is to copy images many times like:
1. image1
2. image2
3. image3
4. image1(copied)
5. image2(copied)
6. image3(copied)
etc.
Hi -
help!? asap
Just updated the plugin and it’s not displaying the entire image. What do I need to do to get it to align left and also be set to display the entire header which is 900px wide?
WordPress 2.9.2
MySQL client version: 5.0.32
php version:5.2.6
wwwindi:
The code has been changed so you need to copy new code from admin panel to your header.
You can specify also the dimensions.
i fixed it – nevermind…
I have completed all the steps but it still only shows Loading Images… and doesn’t rotate through
John:
Is JavaScript enabled? What it writes the JavaScript console of your browser?
Hi -
I have tested the new version of the plugin on my site for about 4 days now. I have the image set to change daily but it hasn’t changed once yet. Tried faster settings ( seconds ) and that worked fine. Everything is green (go) in the settings.
Got any ideas on how this could be fixed?
Thanks –
w
Wwwindi:
So you have one browser with your homepage there for 24 hours? If yes and it doesn’t change sounds bug in the new JavaScript I’m using. Please confirm it anyway.
Yes. In both Safari and Firefox, the header set to change every day has remained for about 4-5 days the same now.
wwwindi:
I will take a look, thank you. But have you resaved the new options after upgrade?
yes i definitely saved the settings since the upgrade a few times. My header should display a different planet/quote in the header every day, but since the upgrade it’s been stuck on Jupiter.
I know IE sucks, but I need help. Images are loading and rotating perfectly in Safari & Firefox. Since the new upgrade images are no longer loading in IE. It just says Loading images…. but never actually loads them. Any suggestions? (besides don’t use IE)
wwwindi:
Ok I will take a look, in the meanwhile you can revert back to v1.1.1
Tasha:
Which version of IE are broken with the new version?
It should be easy, but how do I revert back to v1.1.1?
wwwindi:
with FTP access to your website, delete /wp-content/plugins/cimy-header-image-rotator dir and install v1.1.1 taken from my website.
I installed plugin, activated it. Now what? I don’t see how I set it up and add it to a page/sidebar. Thanks!
Never mind – I happened upon the files by randomly clicking on the “Edit” button under Plugins. I suppose it would KILL you to put this under “INSTALLATION” when you post the thing?
Not ungrateful, but… Really?
Janet:
Eh?
I’ve tried it in IE7 & 8. Neither working. Thanks for your help!
Tasha:
I found already the issue and fixed, will release 2.0.1 soon, anyway let me say once again, IE is crap! Seriously I’m not kidding.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Marco,
Thanks for the plug-in!!! It works well, just what we wanted.
I downloaded the newest version v2.0.1 but still not working in IE (7specifically, not sure bout others). Works fine in other browsers.
I agree, IE sucks. But, still many of our clients use it, including the partners of the company (yikes, I know).
Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? (yes, I read all FAQ, comments, docs, versions/updates etc. posted on your site)
Thanks so much again!
Caro
Caro:
Works for me on IE8 on XP SP3. I didn’t try anything else. Please try higher versions and let me know.
Hi Marco,
It works. sorry! Thanks for the help!
Caro:
Yea, why not making a donation then? It works, I fixed even this bug, is not worth it? :/
Plugin works great in FF and Chrome, get error on IE 7:
Line: 30
Char: 5
Error: Expected Identifier, string or number
Code: 0
URL: (my current page)
I copied code exactly so not sure what is missing….
Marcus:
Using which version of the plugin? Also copy/paste line 30 otherwise how can I understand?
Hi Marco,
I think Marcus is right. In IE7 this is an error with v.2.0.1. I’ll leave it up to him to explain.
When we get the site done and everything is working properly, we will make the respectable donations to authors of the plug-ins we use, such as yours.
Regards
caro
Is anyone else seeing pop up ads since installing the rotator? Is this supposed to happen? If so, is there a paid version to eliminate the ads?
Barb:
there are no adverts in this plug-in, but you are more than welcome to do a donation.
Weird, everytime I click on the header image, an ad pops up from affiliate-popups.com.
So far, I’m testing on a “fake” site (the web address with this comment) When I deactivate the Cimy Rotator, the popups don’t appear.
When I applied the update for this plugin and pasted the new script, the header in Firefox is not centered. I have read your comment on page 2 but I do not understand where to tell it to align=”left”
Evan:
You can try adding it in the style code:
align: left;
Caro & Marcus:
I fixed it for IE7 on v2.0.2 now make this donation if you are people that keep promises!
Hey there Marco. Thanks for this plugin. It works for me so far and I might send you some beer money.
The only thing that I would like to modify is the fading used in the images.
Okay, I just resolved my own issue. The fact I was using transparent GIFs made the fading effect look really bad. But if others experience the same issues, GIFs are to blame!
Beer money on the way.

Mikey:
Thanks, still didn’t receive any donations from the above people, but I’m used to this: they ask the fix and promise donation for later, then they “forget” about it after the fix arrived.
Marco,
Thank you for the newest version for IE7. (very much appreciated)
Donation is on the way, be patient as I am relying on client payment to be able to pay you!
Nice plugin!
Had a problem with it jumping down into position after loading images, and with it displaying shifted far right on Firefox (WP 3.0b2 w/ TwentyTen theme). Fixed both by adding “clear: both;” to the div style section of the copied code.
It would be really nice if it didn’t need to load all images before displaying the first one.
Thanks again.
Marco,
I’m sure you’ll be happy to find my donation.
Caro
Jerome:
How many images you have that is so slow?
Caro:
Thanks to you and everybody that made a donation, this means you are serious people.
Right now about 10 at about 100 KB each (1MB total). But will want about 100 eventually (10MB total).
plug in on more than one page of site–Is this possible??…you need a directory where all images will be stored, the directory MUST HAVE this name: ‘Cimy_Header_Images’ and MUST BE placed under: “wp-content” dir
To use your script on more than one page, I need to be able to create sub directories under cimy_header_images folder.
I read all through the documentation and comments and could not find anything on this…thanks.
Meredy:
What does it mean your question?
1. If you mean having different images rotating in different places is not possible
2. If you mean having THE SAME images rotating just paste the same code where you want it.
I just downloaded the version thas compatible with wordpress 3.0. When I try to upload pics I get a message saying “Web server cannot write on images directory, check permissions”. I am confused. I am using an older version of IE. Could you please help???
Kia:
Did you create the right directory and gave permissions to write to it as said in the readme file?
Thanks Jerome… the clear: both; worked perfectly for me. To use with WP 3 theme the section now reads:
#cimy_div_id {
width: 940px;
height: 198px;
clear: both;
}
Small problem, I’d like to have a image header at the top of the page with rotating images of the latest displays, but, all we get is “Loading Images…”, then it disappears.

Any advice?
Stoo:
have you uploaded some pictures?
